The purpose of SRI is to provide its students with the opportunity to experience all aspects of North Indian Classical music by interacting with SRI’s different teachers as well as each other. By working together and utilizing modern instruction tools and methods, students can acquire more musical knowledge and experience at a faster rate than they could before.SRI provides its students with online materials such as worksheets, recordings, and other materials that facilitate the education process. SRI’s instructors also emphasize the importance of individual and group practice as the primary means for student growth. Classes are open to all ages of students from 5 years old to adults, and from rank beginner to advanced.

Brandon McIntosh

Brandon has spent the last 10 years developing a unique way of teaching Indian classical music on the piano and has co-founded the Seattle Raga Institute to teach this technique. He has completed a bachelors in percussion and a masters in music composition while also studying sarod for nearly 20 years. He has traveled the world and performed in Russia, France, Belgium and India as well as throughout the United States.


Josh Humphrey
Hindustani Guitar
Josh Humphrey teaches Hindustani guitar in Sammamish. Beginning at age 14, he has pursued classical, blues, rock, and finger-style in addition to his main focus of Hindustani guitar. Josh studies in the Senia Shah-Jahanpur gharana, and has taken classes with Pandit Buddhadev DasGupta. He earned a Master of Music degree from the University of Oregon, as well as a bachelor of Music degree from Central Washington University. Josh also receives tabla training from Ustad Sabir Khan, khalifa of the Farrukhabad gharana. He has performed around the country, and his compositions have earned awards from several Universities and festivals.
In addition to working as an instructor with SRI, Josh is on the faculty at Central Washington University, and is the owner operator of JBH Guitars, a custom hand-builder of acoustic guitars and other stringed instruments.
